21 August 2006:
As you may have noticed, we haven't been all too fastidious in keeping this website up to date lately. The Lake Me consensus is to lay this site to rest indefinitely and to continue using myspace as our portal to the greater world. The reason for this is none other than that we're too lazy to maintain our own site - and Rupert Murdoch makes it oh so much easier to just stick in the fun info we want without having to deal with formatting issues. Shame about Rupert though...
So hope to see you on myspace instead - there's no need to create your own profile as you can still email us on info@lakememusic.net for anything you wish to ask us.
Much love from the LM Crew.
1 May 2006:
We're back and just about recovered from our trip to Germany. Once again, we'd like to extend our thanks to all the people who put us on and made sure we were so well taken care of.
We've just had a spring clean in the pictures section and put a handful of new ones up taken by Scootiepye. Check out her websites www.scootiepye.com, flickr scootiepye and lomohome for more information on her work and lomography.
26 February 2006:
Well there it is: our tour in Germany is all booked. Check out the gig listings for dates when we're playing your town and mark it in your diaries. It's going to be a cracking week driving around and getting lost while digging to Lucinda Williams and munching on easter eggs.
Big thank yous and much love to everyone who helped getting this off the ground - Ingo (The Company With the Golden Arm), Alex Tripolis, Tobi and Caro Snatch for putting us up.
See you very soon.
14 February 2006:
No, we're not posting this to wish you happy Valentine's - in fact, the only thing I got today was an email from my mother. At least I know I've got her and pa...
More importantly, we'd like to announce the arrangement of the much postponed tour of Germany. We're updating the Shows section as we get more information so stay tuned to find out where, when and with whom. The first date will be in Braunschweig on the 12th April which also coincides with Nathalie's 30th birthday! Presents, chocolate or just the ol' boot of beer will be much welcome.
Take care till next time. xx
10 January 2006:
Lordy
lordy, last night was a blinder of a gig! We had the honour of supporting West
Philly's mighty doom jazz titans Stinking Lizaveta - personal favourites of
Steve Albini. And what a treat that was. We have certainly established a long
lasting love affair with these prophets of rock supremacy as have the
rest of the kids in Newcastle. They're currently on tour in the UK so
hurry up and find a date on www.stinkinglizaveta.com
to experience the heavy metal epiphany for yourselves.
Our
next gig will be tomorrow at Bar Pure in Sunderland and after that we'll be
taking a break to work on new material. We'll probably do one more show in
February and that will be it for a while. Stay tuned for April European tour
dates to be posted shortly.
20 November 2005:
We've set up profile on www.myspace.com which will serve as guestbook for any comments you'd like to post. Check out www.myspace.com/lakeme and be our friend!
16 October 2005:
Yes dear visitors, we've been taking your ideas onboard and have added our lyrics to the website. To get to them, go to Releases, click on where it says "Click here for track listing and lyrics". Once there, you'll be able to get the lyrics by clicking on the song titles.
Please check out the information for the 23 October gig - this is an opportunity for anyone to get involved on the night or with future events.
4 October 2005:
Check out the new album reviews we got in the Reviews section. We're constantly updating our Shows section as well as more gigs are popping up so make sure you stay tuned. Hope to see you at some of the gigs coming up this autumn.
10 September 2005:
CANCELLATIONS: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be unable to play the gigs on 13 September at Bar Pure in Sunderland and 15 September at The Dog and Parrot in Newcastle previously advertised on the site. The gigs will still go ahead so please make your way down anyway had you planned to go already. Apologies from Camp Lake Me.
21 August 2005:
What can we say... THANK YOU for making our album launch last Thursday such a success! We had an amazing time and it means a lot to us to see so many people turning up and having a good time. A special thank you to Sarah and Nicky for all your help and of course also to the staff at the Salsa Club. Hope the neighbours didn't complain.
We still haven't got PayPal set up so if you want to buy the album but can't find it in the shop, well just drop us an email and we'll send it to you...once we get your cheque that is.
We've got a show coming up in Manchester on the 3rd September as part of Get Bent!. There are also some new pictures and a clip added to Pics and Clips.
28 July 2005:
We have pictures! And now you have too - click the brand spanking new Pics and Clips link to view some action packed shots.
Errrm...just uploaded the pictures and they open up extremely big - not how I had planned it. I'll sort that out as soon as I get a moment.
27 July 2005:
So it's all set: The album launch will be held at the Salsa Club on Westgate Road in Newcastle on the 18th August. It kicks off at 7.30pm with a live set around 9pm. As it is a private party, children are welcome but please remember to bring ear plugs for them!
The gig in Gothenburg has been confirmed as being at a place called Uppåt Framåt, apparently one of the nicest new venues in town with support from Andreas Hellman. The gig in Leeds has unfortunately been postponed (again!) to sometime in October. It'll be back in the Shows section as soon as a date has been set (again...).
7 July 2005:
THE
ALBUM IS UPON US!
Well, nearly... It's mixed and ready to be pressed and packaged so to celebrate this little
adventure we'll be holding a launch
party on
the 18th August
at the Salsa Club
on Westgate Road in
Newcastle. It's free and it will be a gem of a night with a short set from yours
truly, visuals, goody bags (if our budget allows it, that is) and of course the
album on sale for a reduced price. Please come along to eat, drink and mingle
among the people who made this all possible and who we are very grateful
to.
If you can't make it to the party and your local shop doesn't sell it, you can always order a copy here and we'll send you one (£8 + postage and packaging) - have a little taster by listening to a few songs.
15 June 2005:
A gig in Sunderland in July has been added to the Shows section and the Leeds gig has been moved to August. The Sunderland show is still in the making but may turn out to be an all-dayer. Either way, it should be a good night so get your metro money saved up...
Keep sending us your orders for our album out in August. They are £8, CD format, and until we get PayPal set up, just send us an email and we'll probably be asking for a cheque once the albums arrive. If you prefer a pre-listen, we'll be sticking some tunes on this site as soon as they are mixed - this will be sometime in July.
20 May 2005:
Our first Sweden gig has been confirmed! It will take place at the birthplace of one of the founding members of Lake Me at the legendary Taj Mahal. It will be a majestic night with plenty of drunken men's bare upper bodies...
We've also got a gig in Leeds in July - venue to be confirmed. See the Shows section for details.
16 May 2005:
Alrightee, here's the deal - there will be NO tour in Denmark, Germany or Holland in August. Instead, we'll be flying over to SWEDEN on a combined holiday/tour session! This will be cheaper, easier to organise and less hassle all around. Hopefully we'll be putting our mark in mainland venues some time soon but just not this time. So if you're anywhere between Stockholm and Gothenburg the first week of August be sure to make your way to one of our shows. Details will be listed in the Shows section to your right as soon as they're confirmed.
The album is coming along nicely. The cover design is more or less sorted and looking mighty fine. As soon as the covers come over from America, we'll start working on printing them - by hand mind, so all those misaligned words and edges will be valued collectables... Release party is planned for mid August when we get back from tour - more details will be posted as and when.
3 May 2005:
There have been a few additions to this website, namely the fact that you can click on the hyperlinks above and read our Biography and a couple of Reviews. Hopefully, these less than attractive hyperlinks will be replaced by handsome buttons in the near future, but I'm struggling getting the buttons to do what I want them to. Soon there will also be some more pics to look at, but we're taking baby steps here...
Keep your eyes peeled for more gigs to be posted.
22 April 2005:
Well we finally got our website
together - quick and dirty DIY always wins in the end - and here you go.
It will change from
time to time as it grows and as we figure out better ways of doing
things. At the moment, we’re listing info
on past and upcoming shows. Some information on the Lake Me Collective
of Love will be uploaded soon and we plan to include a guest
book. Future plans are to get PayPal going so we can offer online
ordering of records, merch and miscellaneous items.
We're currently in the process of recording our debut album which we hope will be out in the summer. As mentioned above, we want to be able to offer it online but at the moment we're concentrating on getting it done and out there. To promote it and to get out and about, we're working on booking a European tour in August. The plan is to play Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Holland. If anyone can offer any help with gigs in Denmark, Germany and Holland, please contact us on info@lakememusic.net. It would be much appreciated...
